Small Team = Big Impact

With 8 staff members in total and only 5 who work full time at 58 Newbury, we manage to positively impact the lives of 20,000 community members each year with nutritious community dinners, emergency pantry services and everyday essential needs items, such as clothing, toiletries and diapers.

This year’s Annual Appeal is focused on our small team and our significant impact on the citizens we serve throughout the greater Merrimack Valley. Bread & Roses has always been a special place. For those of you who know us, you know why. For those of you who are learning more about us, let me explain. We have been fighting hunger and hardship in the greater Lawrence area since 1980. We do not accept state or federal funding and instead receive support from small businesses, community groups and community members like you! Monetary donations, volunteer hours, food drives, service days and donations of clothing and other everyday items keep our doors open. Because we do not accept state or federal funding, we do not require identification to receive our services. We help anyone and everyone who calls or shows up on our doorstep.

I invite all of you to visit the rest of our new website that is in both English and Spanish and explains our community meals program and our other vital services in depth. Bread & Roses is currently looking for a larger space that will enable us to expand our reach and assist more community members in the surrounding area.

We are filled with so much gratitude that you are on this journey with us. This year, we will continue to serve up hope and resilience in our community every day and continue to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of our community.

Peace and Love,

Jess
